Dubai: Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) and MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, on Thursday announced that Dubai is hosting the first green economy summit in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region on April 15 and 16, 2014, to complement the sustainable future vision of the UAE and global efforts to combat climate change.

Al Tayer, in a press conference in Dubai, said the World Green Economy Summit, scheduled under the theme “Global Partnerships, Sustainable Future”, is in line with the “Green Economy For Sustainable development” initiative, announced last year by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as a national strategy to help make the UAE a world leader in the field of green economy, and a global centre for exporting and re-exporting green technologies and products.
